Information for guests

Campus Construction

Replacement of KU's century-old utility tunnels, a state-funded deferred maintenance project, will begin between Watson Library and Memorial Drive immediately after commencement. Fences and material may be in place but will not close any roads, lots, or sidewalks during commencement.

Memorial Stadium Access Information

The potential for extreme heat during the ceremony as well as the normal mobility challenges of a stadium should be anticipated.

Guests arriving at Memorial Stadium from Jayhawk Blvd.

To avoid steps between Jayhawk Boulevard and the stadium, use the elevator in Snow Hall to reach the campanile on Memorial Drive.

There are three paths from the campanile leading to the stadium. The path on the left as you face the stadium is the only path with steps.

Accessibility

There is no accessible route across the stadium from west to east.

ADA accessible parking (including a drop-off area) is available on the stadium's west side, accessible from 11th and Maine, and on the east side at 11th and Mississippi.

Special needs parking is also available on the east side for use by persons who need special assistance. This area is accessed from 11th and Mississippi. There is reserved parking in standard spaces. A drop-off area next to either elevator is available to drivers parking in the reserved or general parking areas.

For people with disabilities who have an ADA accessible placard or identification card issued by any state, lower stadium bench, track seating (folding chairs), and wheelchair seating (on the track) are available through Gate D. Adjacent ADA accessible reserved parking is available.

Wheelchair seating is also available atop sections 1, 4-5, 16-17, 20-21, 32-33, 42-43, 46-47, and 50 (see map in brochure for location and closest stadium entrance gates). Elevators to wheelchair seating are on both east and west sides of the stadium.

Look for a sign at 11th and Maine Streets that says "Parking... ADA Accessible and Special Needs" and a sign at 11th and Mississippi Streets that says "Parking... General, ADA Accessible and Special Needs." Look for additional signs that direct you to each specific parking area.

Sign language interpreters and reserved seating for persons using interpreter services will be available in the bowl of the stadium, sections 25 and 26, rows 29-33. Call Disability Resources with questions in advance at (785)864-2620 (Voice/TDD).

Due to safety regulations, all aisles in the stadium must be kept clear of wheelchairs, strollers, and folding chairs.
